While taking a photo, it is important to ensure that the background does not detract from the quality of the image. If you are taking a picture of a product , the background should contrast with the colour of the product, so that it can be seen clearly.
Though the background can be changed at a later date using a photo editing software, it is a cumbersome and time consuming task. Some of the more popular photo editing software are expensive for home use.

The batteries for most cameras drain very quickly, especially when the flash is used . So it is advisable to switch off the camera when not in use. Many camera owners prefer to use rechargeable batteries, though camera manufacturers supply the standard batteries with the default packaging.

Though the lens and camera are important, it is usually the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The ability to set the scene for the camera, adjust the cameras settings according to the surroundings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the high quality pictures which are most in demand.

The price of a camera depends to a great extent on the resolution available. Higher the resolution, more the price of the camera as the images are sharper. The price of an outdated model falls quickly, as most buyers wish to purchase the latest model.

Digital cameras have made it easy and cost effective for real estate agents, architects, interior designers and home owners to take photographs of property from the inside and outside. A real estate agent can list the photographs on website, and generate more enquiries. They can also send the photographs to prospective buyers, saving them a trip to the property.
A digital camera with a 35 mm lens or one that can accept a wide angle converter lens is recommended for real estate photography. A tripod is useful for taking exterior photos and an external flash will help in taking clear photos of interiors of the house
Before taking a photograph of a property, the composition should be checked on the LCD or in the viewfinder. Some tips are:
1. The plus points of the property should be highlighted in the photograph
2. Shots should be taken from different angles, shots taken from dynamic angles can be eye catching and attract more buyers
3. There should be no obstructions in the photograph, all features should be clearly visible.
The digital photographs of properties can be sent to prospective buyers by email or CD (for large file sizes). Customized cards and calendars can be created. An online virtual tour of the property can be created, which shows details of each room and area of the property. A prospective buyer need not waste time and money visiting each property in an area personally . The real estate agent also saves time and only has to deal with buyers who wish to actually purchase the property.
